Tooth ring. 14karat white gold. Named after the Korean word for tooth, the EE ring is a symbol of the dichotomous nature of nature itself, its fierceness and its delicateness. The Oaxacan coast of Mexico is Sojin’s haven where she feels true freedom and finds creative inspiration. The area’s cuisine recalls her grandmother’s cooking which, through necessity, involves experimentation with humble, common ingredients. The pulse of nature is enveloping in Oaxaca, even in commerce. Collected teeth of various sharks, most notably the great white, are sold by open air vendors. Throughout her encounters on her travels, Sojin’s perspective on these animals has shifted. These beautiful creatures that dominate the food chain are indispensable to their environment and must be cared for and preserved in order to maintain the integrity of the oceans.
